I love talking to people about my process of transforming my body — and how I feel about myself! But I think it’s really important to clarify one thing: fitness is a journey. There’s no destination here, baby! It is a constantly changing process. Your body changes all the time and you’ll never get to a point where you can just be like, okay, I’m done.
However, this does not mean that fitness must be exhausting! When I started my fitness journey, I really thought it would be like this. But I’ve learned a lot over the years. And I thought about the things that I would like to travel in time and tell myself.
Obv, I can’t do that. But I can tell you these things. And in this way I will help you avoid some of the frustrations and obstacles I have faced, especially at the beginning of my fitness journey.
Are you ready? Here are seven things I learned!
#1: I COULD CHANGE MY BODY AT HOME
For example, why do we all think that weight loss and gym membership must go hand in hand? (Very good marketing on gym parts, that’s why!)
But really, you don’t have to leave your house to start your fitness journey. You do not need to dress or make up. Damn, my daughter, you don’t even need to brush your teeth!
When I started doing my workouts at home, I was totally overwhelmed by the ease with which it was easier to follow them. If you don’t have all this production to prepare and go to the gym and try not to look terrible during training, sweating is so much easier. Therefore, if you have difficulty making progress, you should leave the subscription to the gym. You also save money! I use LSF’s app daily and it changes completely. The training sessions are organized daily and I constantly leave new training videos in the video library!
#2: I HAVEN’T EATEN ENOUGH!
I know that if you are trying to lose weight, it is really tempting to seriously reduce your calories.
But here’s the problem: if you don’t eat enough, your body doesn’t have the fuel it needs. Think about how far you can drive your car when your tank is almost empty. Your body is no different!
Instead of trying to eat less in general, try to eat less bad things. Instead, eat a lot-just make sure it’s healthy, whole foods that balance you out. Snacking was the key for me! I’m not kidding, I probably eat five or six times a day. But I mix snacks with smaller meals. That way, when I finally sit down to eat, I’m not completely hungry, so hungry that I overdo it.
If you have trouble eating healthier, try adding nutritious snacks between each meal. If you need help, I have so many different nutrition plans that are perfect for every lifestyle!
#3: RECOVERY IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS MY TRAINING!!
Oh, man. The number of injuries I could have avoided if I had learned this lesson earlier.
My daughter, your body needs BREAKS. Your rest days are an integral part of your weekly exercise program, so don’t skip them!
I know it may sound great, especially when you’re in the groove of setting aside some time to exercise every day. To keep this habit in place and give your body the rest it needs, you can use this time for active rest. You know I love my foam roller, but recently I’m also passion with my choice massager. This thing makes it so easy to do yourself a deep tissue massage! It feels awesome and promotes recovery, aka, it’s pretty much the best!
#4: THERE IS NOT A SINGLE WORKOUT THAT WOULD CHANGE MY BODY
I thought that one day I would find something that would change everything. You feel me. Maybe you have tried the bar, pilates, HIIT, CrossFit, yoga, etc.
But there is not a single type of exercise that will completely change the game. If there were any, everyone would do it! Instead, it’s about creating the mix that suits you best. Change it and do the workout that is most fun on this day! You will stay motivated and always see these # profits, my daughter!
#5: I DIDN’T HAVE TO RESTRICT WHOLE FOODS GROUPS FROM MY DIET TO SEE RESULTS
So many diets focus on reducing things, be it gluten, sugar, fats, soy, or anything else. And it is possible that there is a certain food group that disturbs your body.
But if there is no food sensitivity, cutting whole parts of food is probably not the best. It is much more difficult to stick to your healthy diet!
Instead, I like to focus on eating tasty foods that are processed as little as possible. Mix it up and find what works for you. Healthy eating should not be so difficult!
#6: GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME
Let me repeat: GOOD. THING. TAKE. TIME.
If you lose three pounds in a week, they will probably put you back in place.
You can not rush this process. And you have all your life to look and feel your best! So celebrate all the little victories and go on, baby! Progress is perfect.
#7: COMMUNITY AND RESPONSIBILITY ARE THE KEY!
You’ve probably heard the saying that says: “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far,go together.”
This is SO TRUE when it comes to your fitness journey. You can get more shape yourself for a while. But staying there to become an even healthier and fitter version of yourself requires constant motivation. And there’s no better place to get that than with your friends!
Seriously, if you haven’t joined our #LSF community on Instagram, come on! American girls are waiting to encourage you in the long run!
